Day two on the trail
About this pouch
By day two on the trail, the stove is doing all the cooking. Rations No. 03 is the bolognese of Meal No. 03: short pasta in a beef sauce with tomato, onion, carrot, celery and oregano. Pasta and sauce are cooked first, then freeze-dried whole, so the pasta keeps its shape in the pouch. At 491 kcal, it carries more energy than any other pouch in the range. The lot number printed on the base ties each pouch to its batch, and every batch to the water-activity reading it passed before packing.
