A wet day on the trail
About this pouch
Small pardina lentils with potato, carrot, leek and onion, seasoned with marjoram and black pepper and lifted at the end with a splash of vinegar. That last splash is the trick of a German Linseneintopf: it sharpens the earthy lentils so the bowl tastes bright instead of heavy, and the whole dish is vegan. On a wet day on the trail, when everything you own is damp, it's the hot spoonful that turns the evening round. It's cooked first, then freeze-dried whole, vinegar and all. Pour in the water, zip it, give it 8 minutes and eat it in the porch of the tent.
