The week of back-to-back calls
About this pouch
Some weeks the calendar leaves eight minutes between calls, and that gap has to be lunch. Meal No. 02 is rice with a beef chili of kidney beans, tomato, onion and red pepper, seasoned with cumin, paprika, chilli and garlic. Like every Stock Up meal, it's cooked first, then freeze-dried whole. The pouch carries 32 g of protein, printed on the front next to the kcal. Its lot number on the base leads back to the batch record: the day the chili was cooked, and the water-activity reading the batch passed before a single pouch was filled.
Where it fits
Training and desk days
32 g of protein in 440 kcal means 29 % of the energy comes from protein, over the 20 % line for a high-protein claim. Alongside it come 54 g of carbohydrate (5 g sugars), 10 g of fat (3.5 g saturates) and 1.4 g of salt. A single pouch is €9.90; in the Work Week Pack it's €8.98, which brings a gram of protein down to €0.28.
Hill and boat days
Dry, it's 400 kcal per 100 g, so 1,000 kcal of chili weighs 250 g in a rucksack. Pour in 300 ml at 80–100 °C and wait 8 minutes, or pour it cold and wait about 20; the cold time varies. For a longer day out, Rations No. 02 is the same chili in a 120 g pouch with 480 kcal and 35 g of protein.

Questions about this pouch
- How hot is it?
- Medium. The heat comes from chilli, with paprika and cumin behind it, and all three are in the ingredient list.
- What do I need at work to make it?
